I am concerned about this statement in the Promote It ad creation and configuration.
7. Target Facebook Likes & Interests section
Fans of XXARTISTNAMEXX will be automatically targeted. There is no need to re-enter them below.
Normally for a FB ad we would want to EXCLUDE all who ALREADY LIKE our Fan page and who have interacted with the FB event....we should at least have this same option if we were building the ad directly in FB. It is a waste of money to target those who are already engaged with your band FB page.

Promote It Ad for an event - targeting should allow excluding of your existing fans.

Thanks for the input! I'll be sure to pass your message along to our development team. Promote It ads generate thousands of impressions on the Facebook pages of potential fans. It is possible that there will be some crossover of people who are fans of yours and people who are fans of your similar artists.

If I were to create my Ad in Facebook, I would be able to exclude all who were already connected to the event (RSVP'ed etc) and all who already liked my Band page.
This is a major issue, it makes zero sense to have the ads target those who are already going to your show, or are aware of your band. This is a waste of your ad money.
There would be no crossover with the FB targeting setup correctly, this is the value of the FB system. I like how your Promote It leverages FB to make it better by generation many ad variations, but this issue will force me to reconsider until you fix it. -

Hi.. where does this stand?
I just saw my own ad... and I am an admin of the page and the event. I should have NEVER seen my own ad. It's a waste of money to target someone who is already engaged with the brand. -

I have passed along your message to our development team. Your Promote It ad is being targeted to all fans of Tom Petty and ZZ Top within a 50-mile radius of the show you are promoting. If you have fans who have liked these artist's Facebook pages, they may still see your Promote It ad.
Your ad has already been shown almost 10,000 times on Facebook. You have about 1,300 Facebook fans. While there may be some crossover, your ad is still being shown mostly to the other thousands of fans of Tom Petty and ZZ Top in the 50-mile radius of your show at The Mystic Theatre.
At this time, this is how Promote It ads work. They target the fans of the similar artists/interests you choose when you set up the ad campaign. I apologize if you do not find this service satisfactory! -

Hi Parker,
I understand that the Promote It ad is targeting all the fans of TomPetty and ZZTop because that is what I defined and that makes sense... but it should exclude the 1400+ fans of our page... and exclude all who have already engaged/RSVP to the event. Otherwise, we are targeting people who could click and throwing money away.
Facebook ads currently support this exclusion criteria. Promote It ads should as well.
Thanks! -

Hi Parker,
Just raising this issue again. We submitted a new Promote It today.
To restate... Facebook Ads that we setup directly allow us to EXCLUDE our own fans and those who have RSVPs already to the event we are promoting. I ask that Promote It have the same functionality.
There should be a flag that allows one to either exclude or include when setting up the Promote It ad. Can you please submit this feature request.
Thanks! -

Hello!
I apologize for the delay of response!
Are you still having any issues?
Please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you out.
Thanks!

Hi Nathan,
Same issue as before.... when we create Event promo ads directly in FB, we can control the targeting in away to EXCLUDE those who are already aware of the event. Promote It should have this same capability as a default. -

Ah! It looks like Parker has already filed this idea with our development team.
Thanks for the feedback! -
