Make sure that my Band Profile is the Default Landing Tab on your Facebook band page!

Edit Subject

Facebook recently made some changes to the way that tabs are displayed on Facebook band pages. Here is how to make sure that My Band is the Default Landing Tab on your Facebook band page:

1. Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/manage

2. Click to edit your page.

3. Choose "Manage Permissions."

4. Look for "Default Landing Tab" and make sure it is set to "♫ Band Profile."

5. Click "Save Changes"

IMPORTANT: If you are an admin of the page or have clicked the "Like" button on the page, you will not default to the My Band tab, but will instead default to the Wall. Only those who are not admins or have not "Liked" the page will default to My Band.

I understand that it will only show up to people that have not liked the page. My only problem is; at this present time all the steps that folks are being asked to do looked to be outdated so I am having a hard time even doing it for my new visitors. Please Help?

The steps above can't be followed due to there is no longer a Default Landing Tab Option.

  I am so confused. No default landing tab. I found out I was not fully published or something like that and when I clicked Fully Publish Page it just goes to my fan page already set up. Why do I still have a Question Mark as my profile pic when I have a pic everywhere else. I hate this program. I liked it better before!!!!

I have a dummy page setup. It is not admin page and it has not liked my page either and every time I look at my page reverb is not the default landing tab. If there is a updated method that I can use I'm sure it will work. The method explained by you is hard to follow because Facebook doesn't allow you to choose what you would like to be your default landing tab.

  When I viewed your page, I was defaulted to the Band Profile tab. If you are logged in as an admin or as someone who has 'Liked' the page, you will not default to Band Profile. Try logging out completely and then viewing the page to see if you continue to have trouble. Hope this helps!

  Thank you for your reply. I have used Safari, Chrome and Firefox being logged out or being logged in as someone else who hasn't liked the page, unfortunately with consistent results.

  Both screenshots are of your personal profile rather than your band page. You need to view your band page ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/Marco-M... ) in order to see the tab. Hope this helps clarify!

Is there any way to set the default landing tab for everybody including admins and user's pre-existing fans that have "liked" my page already? The reverbnation band profile is much more aesthetically pleasing then the natural facebook wall.

  Unfortunately not. Due to Facebook restrictions, the Default Landing tab feature will only work for non-admins and those who have not yet 'Liked' the page. I apologize for the inconvenience!

  I would go to edit your Facebook page and look under "Basic Information." Change your page type to be Music - Musician/Band. Doing so should allow you to sync properly!

  I'm having a similar problem. I have an older band page and profile already hooked up, it was very easy to do. This time not so much! From Facebook side I have form
  Page Name Status Actions
  [My Band Name] No Band Profile on this page Publishing...
  
  After clicking Publish the AJAX loader gif spins forever, nothing is published, no link is made.
  
  On the ReverbNation side under Control Room > My Profile > Social Sync it says I am connected, but when I try to follow the instructions that worked for others here there is still no "BandProfile" under Default Landing Tab.
  
  What follows is circular tail-chasing. Please help.

  some pages just say "Band" not "band profile". I wound up with more than a dozen pages and am trying to sync them all to one page.

  at the lower left hand side of the above page is a link to "The Music of WStephenScott". Why it is there is that it seems that Facebook wants to sell me the link as their service at $50.00 a day. They mentiooned that last week.

I've got the same issue Robert.
I have several pages. I was trying to direct them all to the default page where the
"Like" button is. Don't know if I've succeeded yet - you have succeeded in defaulting to your "Like button" page. That is a good thing.
Now all you have to do is point out in words that the "My Band" logo is to the left of your 'like button' page.
Also I copied and pasted your page title in the search space at the top of the pages, and there you were.
I am unclear as to whether or not FB is restricting another company to have that much control over where they land, or what.

I've got the same issue Robert. I have several pages. I was trying to direct them all to the default page where the "Like" button is. Don't know if I've succeeded yet - you have succeeded in defaulting to your "Like button" page. That is a good thing. Now all you have to do is point out in words that the "My Band" logo is to the left of your 'like button' page. Also I copied and pasted your page title in the search space at the top of the pages, and there you were. I am unclear as to whether or not FB is restricting another company to have that much control over where they land, or what. Looks Great!! tho. WStephenScott

Thanks for taking the time to look at it Walter. I guess I'll stick with what I have and count my blessings. Now it's on to figuring out why my Facebook like button is returning an error on my ReverbNation site, but that's another issue altogether.

When you press the FB like button on that page, it returns an error, but something tells me that has to do with my Facebook settings somehow.
It used to work fine, but I think some of the new settings Facebook has updated have somehow affected the RN facebook like button.

i couldn't set this page up if the owner of reverbnation and facebook came over my house for lunch and all three of us had our laptops. is there a better way? I have like 5 band pages and i can't include my reverbnation page on any of them?

With the new Facebook timeline for pages, the default landing of a custom tab feature is no longer. I utilized this feature to make sure people visiting my bands page first sees the option to play their music. Now it is their timeline. I hope this gets fixed!

haseeb chouhan I understand that it will only show up to people that have not liked the page. My only problem is; at this present time all the steps that folks are being asked to do looked to be outdated so I am having a hard time even doing it for my new visitors. Please Help?

The steps above can't be followed due to there is no longer a Default Landing Tab Option.

With the new pages, THERE...IS...NO...Default Landing Tab Option

It simply isn't there. I know the app is supposed to be able to set that option, but now the app is not working (which I'll have to post to another thread...however, in trying to post that question I was directed here...)

This is probably a Facebook issue due to the Timeline that they forced on us. The option to change the default landing tab just isn't there. It should be, but it's not and it pretty much makes my Facebook band site pointless, as I didn't create a Facebook band fan site to post social network entries. I posted it to promote my band and my music and Facebook has made that more difficult than it should be, which is why I don't direct anyone to my FB band fan site any more. Reverbnation can't fix this because Zuckerberg and his clown posse are the ones who screwed this all up for us.

IT's definitely an FB Timeline issue. Most bands would want their landing page to be their reverb nation profile, as most musicians aren't going to want to use their band fan site for "social networking", or rather having the time line be the landing page. Facebook is trying to force interaction in the hopes of getting people to pay to promote posts that Facebook prevents fans and subscribers from seeing in large numbers without paying to promote posts. Now that they're a public company, they're all about making money and I refuse to make them any richer than they already are.

No, you don't. We all use to, but we no longer do. The default landing tab by default, took visitors to your music. Now it doesn't, and it's likely to be more due to Facebook than Reverbnation.

Since previously posting on this, Facebook has become a public company and are desperate to monetize and prove to Wallstreet that they have a long term monetization strategy. This is why posts on your band fan site don't reach many people unless you pay Facebook to promote your posts. So in addition to paying for any advertising, Facebook is limiting the reach of posts on your band fan site to people you on your friend list, as well as the general public, in the hopes that you'll want to pay them to increase the reach of social networking posts. I'm not personally interesting in making Facebook management richer than they already are and I don't personally care if they can or can't monetize over the long haul because I don't work there. Facebook has now become pretty useless for your band unless you have deep pockets to pay for advertising there or promoting your posts on your band fan site. It sucks, but that's just the way it is now.
