Hello!
Thanks for taking the time to provide us with feedback. Much of the improvements and updates for the new account Dashboard is fueled by feedback like yours and we really do appreciate it! If you have any ideas or feedback for the new layout please let us know in this thread. Our Product Managers and Developers will be monitoring daily and we are always working to make ReverbNation better.
We have worked hard to make the new Dashboard as intuitive as possible and much more user friendly. There are a few new terms and features for your Dashboard that you may hear us refer to when assisting you with any questions such as Toolbar and User Menu:
Your Dashboard is your home. This is where you will start each time you log into your ReverbNation account.
The User Menu is where you will find your playlists, messages, account settings, premium services, billing history, social sync, bank, and event feeds for shows. Click the icon of your profile picture on the right of your Toolbar to view your User Menu:
In your Dashboard you will find a new section that allows you to access your main profile page and shows you your stat summary as well as your profile checklist:
You can now add new songs, photos, videos shows and update your status directly from the front page of your Dashboard:
The Content drop down on your Toolbar is where you will add, manage, remove, or rearrange any and everything you have added to your account:
Use the Tools drop down on your Toolbar to access your premium services and stats:
You can also click the 'Go' button next to any active premium service to get there directly from your Dashboard front page:
Check out the Shows, Promote, and Opportunities drop down on your Toolbar to manage your shows, promotional campaigns and opportunity submissions:
We are very excited about this update to ReverbNation and hope you are too!
Thanks!

they KNOW what everybody thinks of their new control panel and they just don't give a shit. their unbelievable arrogance makes them deaf and blind to the needs and wishes of their customers.
-
The most interesting statistic was details on who is listening, where they are from. I can understand that this might be dropped to protect confidentiality, but some general information at least would be appreciated. Are listeners from my home-town, or from another continent? Have people who signed up as fans even listened? Now there is no information.
-
Not a fan of the new layout at all.
-
Having just read everything it seems once again, you ask for feedback but have no intention of listening, bit like the government, you say the new look is here to stay which may as well be a a two fingered salute to everyone on here, so whats the point in asking, everyones wasting their time. The problem is you're going down tha extremely same dangerous road as Myspace & now Facebook, Myspace was brilliant when it started, then it changed but not in a good way and they refused to listen and there was mass exodus to Facebook, now they too have got too big for their boots and people are looking for something else,a new site that will actually listen to what THEY want, and there are already ones out there slowly building followers started up by people fed up of sites not listening , there was a time that i told everyone to come over to Reverbnation, not any longer.
-
As a former interface designer I have my issues with the new design but if, as I surmise, RN is making a shift to being primarily focused on being a mobile platform it's in line with what many other sites are chasing.
My main issue is with the email system. For me, this site is truly a social networking site where I can work on achieving peer recognition and support, as well as find inspiration from the wonderful artists I have met here. The email system isn't robust enough to do this effectively. I have resorted to keeping a notebook with names of artists I want to visit or communicate with, and the biggest thing is not being able to follow threads. Facebook's messaging isn't a whole lot better but at least you can search and find previous emails from friends. I can live with the clunky redesign but I sure wish they would beef up the email with search, subfolders, and the ability to follow threads. Anybody listening? -
OMG are you reps reading from a script? Listen to what everyone is telling you! Beta testing? Who on earth did you test with? Amongst yourselves? Techies? Listen, musicians don't have time to be shackled to their pages trying to figure out how to open a stinking message. They are making music! Why can't I open a message? I can read the title but I cant click on it to open it. Why are the same messages in my inbox even after I delete them...they wont go away. Why are uploads obly available for download? You used to be able to select just streaming. WHy in the hell would any INDEPENDANT artist who TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING WITH THEIR MUSIC give it away for free on reverbnation WHEN THEY ARE TRYING TO SELL IT ELEWHERE? Some songs are demos that the artist doesnt have the rights to, the demos are used to showcase their voice. None of them can be posted because they cannot be download to the GENERAL PUBLIC AT LARGE YOU MORONS!
I have been LMAO reading these other posts becasue the frustration is palpable. No one cares about your beta testing. I havent checked into my reverb pages..i have three as I manage three diff artists...in almost two weeks because its a total waste of time.
Such a waste. You guys used be the page every artists had to have...like facebook for musicians...now you suck. To your question below with the emoticons...how does this make me feel?....please add PISSED OFF! -
I'm sorry to say that the new Reverbnation configuration and layout sucks, from the point of view of the artists. I can see where you are going with this, and it isn't good. When I arrived on Reverbnation it was near ideal. Now I'm starting to look around again at the other options. I'm really sorry to say this to you, since I've had a lot of satisfaction being on Reverbnation, up till now.
Best wishes, Hitchcock Dances

Well if you took our feedback to heart you'd of left well enough alone. I don't have that big a problem (yet) with the new Control Room. However you did ignore my question and merge it into oblivion on this thread. I now re-ask: HOW DO YOU GET BACK TO THE CONTROL ROOM FROM THE PROFILE PAGE? I looked over your new instructions and didn't seem to find an answer to that question. It may be "merged" so deeply in the instructions I missed it. Change in itself isn't bad. Change for the sake of change is! Change for the better is good. Change that improves nothing is bad. I hate to speak in juvenile terms but I feel I'm writing this to "developers" who are IDIOTS! Speaking simply is all they can hope to understand. Even if they do, what they hear is ignored and they go along their merry way, oblivious of their actions. I've now used up another hour of my life I'll never get back; looking, reading, adjusting, bitching, spell checking (No you still don't have freekin SPELL CHECK. (See my ignored suggestions from about 8 months ago) And still don't have an answer to my question: How do I get back to the CONTROL ROOM from the PROFILE PAGE? For that matter I still can't figure how to get back to RN from here....
-
same as above. difficult to express how hated the new control room is. not because of resistance to change, but because the old one was great. I think the last month's worth of utterly negative feedback in these forums has adequately articulated what's wrong with it, and re-iterated it at great length. Simply ignoring the objections doesn't make them go away, except for what appears to be the large number of reverb clients who are feeling the strong urge to do just that. it's just incomprehensible to me why you'd bugger up such a good thing with this new dog's breakfast. seriously. an epic blunder. I'd imagine a large percentage of your clients are people who came having given up on myspace for exactly this kind of thing. and if you'd like to turn back we can all pretend it never happened, and be super happy with RN!

It would greatly be appreciated if we can just leave the look of ReverbNation alone. Everytime you guys changed it, things don't work. I promote this site all the time and give it many praise. Can we please just leave it how it is? It was fine the way you had it before.
Thank you.

Hey Hank Cole Band!
What was previously the 'Control Room' is now your 'Dashboard'. Click the 'Dashboard' button from your Profile Page to return to the admin portion of your account (screen shot here: http://screencast.com/t/gfqysuab7Lrn).
When in your Dashboard you can return to your profile page by click the 'View my Profile Page' link (http://screencast.com/t/HrC9QTGeav) or by selecting 'View my Profile' from the User Menu drop down in the top right of your toolbar (http://screencast.com/t/Y8fFrVYePG).
I hope that helps! -

Hello! I promise you there is absolutely no script that we are reading from.
We have continuously found that sales are not hurt but boosted from a successful free mp3 download campaign. Today's potential fans are more likely to move on to the next artist rather than break out their wallet if you are not offering any sampling of your music. Even the biggest artists on the plant use free downloads to their advantage to gain exposure or grow their mailing list through fan exclusive downloads.
It sounds like you may have some web browser issues. These are not widely reported issues so it would likely help to update your browser. Here are some links where you can download the most up to date version.

When I see things like "Promotional Checklist (12%)" or "Sync Status Updates (5%)" in my artist profile's control room I just want to vomit. Who are you to tell me how complete my profile is? What about people who just want to upload their music and let other people find it by serendipity? Any way to turn off all that annoying "promote yourself or die"-stuff?
It doesn't suprise me in the least that most people still using Reverbnation are quite happy with the new look of the site. A large percentage of any population are so-called "authoritarian follower"-types. You will never hear any negative feedback from them about stuff like this, except when they get orders to do so or they see most others doing it. Most of them simply cannot think with the way they think (especially not anything negative). Instead they will say something positive and pat themselves on the back for being so...positive and uncritical (when the opposite response would have been more appropriate.)
Those people are basically blank slates, easily influenced by the psychopathic structures of the socio-cultural system they live in. I can imagine why this new, more streamlined look (which is completely devoid of any personality and warmth btw) is a success with people of this personality type: Because it fits their thinking patterns. They are more prepared to accept this kind of layout because of the prior "grooming" (in the psychological manipulation sense of the word) & Normalization that occured via sites like Facebook and Myspace. Words and phrases like "Promote it on Facebook", "Social-Sync" and especially "Get More Likes with Promote It" - all act as hypnotic openers (as well as the color scheme being used). Some people will actually start to feel all warm and fuzzy inside when they read stuff like this and when they see "like buttons" everywhere. Knowing that Facebook is "well integrated" into a website gives them a "high". Their need for narcissistic reassurance does the rest.
I know that you will not change the site back into how it was a year ago, regardless how much negative feedback you receive here (that would be seen as a sign of weakness and doing so could actually trigger a mental breakdown for some people that are deeply invested in the site - nobody wants that! This would be a bit like a dentist discovering the truth about fluoride...).
But what about more options to configure the look and feel of the site? Reverbnation now looks much too cold with it's black-blue-white color scheme - what about another theme to choose from, if only for personal viewing (i.e. for the control room). And an opt-out option for at least half of that promotional stuff cluttering up my control room and my inbox would be cool, too. (I'm talking about artist profiles here, obviously).
Sorry if some what I just wrote doesn't make much sense. Still trying to get my thoughts in order. Consider it a first draft of what I really wanted to say here. Most of what needed to be said has been said by the other commenters - I just wanted to add some things nobody has mentioned so far and that is never easy.
PS: The fan-account profiles still have the old control room. Will this last remnant of the old reverbnation also be replaced by the 'MyFaceNation 2.0ver9000' control-room someday? Should I start making screenshots for (future-) nostalgia's sake?
In that sense: Activate the suck. Promote the Fail. I am excited about it and I hope
you are too!- view 1 more comment

I have also found the messaging cumbersome but never used it much. I still like the music player and fan collector a lot, but now apologize to my clients for the press kit.
-
-
Also, when I got a New Fan Message, I could click on their icon and go hear them before I fan them back. Now if I click on the icon, sometimes it automatically makes me fan them before hearing them. Give me the choice in that matter. If more people unsubscribe from the premium services then maybe they will think about switching back to the old control room. Or at least give us the choice between the two.

I guess I understand all the buzz about the "new look." I just joined a couple of days ago and for me the process has been fairly painless. My roommate had the old look and hadn't been there in awhile, so when he looked at my new page he was completely lost. And mumbled some of the same groanings I read above.
I DID upload my songs for streaming only. Then I re-uploaded them for sale in my store as "singles." I then downloaded 2 songs from a different email account and the process went very smoothly. I'm only having trouble figuring out where that money went, or when it will show up as a credit in my "bank." I had a paypal account setup with a different email than I use with reverbnation, so where is the tab to take me where I need to go to create a "bank account" for my reverbnation
MP3 sales money to go?-
Hello!
You can see any earnings by going to 'Tools > Stats > Earnings Report'.
Here you will see any sales for your account. Once the sales clear, approximately 35 days, it will then appear in your ReverbNation bank.
I hope that helps! -

for the stats, please change the maximum limit from 60 days to one year.. if thats too much then atleast make it back to 90 days.. And we wanna know how many times EACH track was played by our top listeners.. as of now you guys are just showing the overall number of plays by our top listener..
-
-
Yes, several of our statistical displays have been removed. Browsing the stats is not nearly as informative as it once was. They're prolly saving money somehow, to keep their greed afloat, while still offering 'something' free.

I have spent many (read hundreds of) hours sending press kits customized to the schools, libraries churches and nursing homes where I make my living. Sometimes it takes months before they get attention. RN promoted this service to me and I paid for it. reading the stats has been part of my daily marketing. when I see that someone has listened to three of my songs, I know to call them sooner rather than later. if someone listened to seven or ten I really know that a call can produce a gig. From time to time I have done marketing workshops for musicians and recommended RN as a must have. I can no longer recommend RN. I hope you will repair the damage you have done to this service!

I have been on here a couple of years. Seems the powers that be care only about their own swelling pocketbooks. They don't give a crap about us.
-
I paid for service with multiple press kits, and they changed the content of what I sent out for the last several years! Give me what I paid for RN!
-
-
-
-
-
I have sent notice to Reverbnation in other posts about this NEW Control Room and I re-issue my statements here... IT SUCKS! You have no total count of the number of video views, you can't jump directly to any of the stats that you want to (instead you have to go all the way back out to the main control panel and then go to a specific stat), and all the new control panel is is flashy. It serves no more purpose than the old control panel did. I PAY for Reverbnations Press Kit and I use it and I WAS PLANNING on getting Reverbnations Website to link my music and videos but if THIS is how you are going to be (NOT LISTENING TO THE MASSES) and screwing with the data that we need and are used to, then I might as well drop Reverbnation completely and many others will too. Then you won't have any paying customers to support your employees. THINK ABOUT THAT!!!
-
-
amen brother!! and every RN customer feels the same way!! THIS NEW SYSTEM SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!
-
-
Interesting also how all the "positive" comments in this thread were merged in from another thread...
But since they will not be able to keep up the illusion for much longer, I think they're already working on their own pro-Reverbnation propaganda training manual. Expect the mass arrival of paid propaganda commenters like China's & Israels so-called "50 cent armies"! -
-
Wow I had no idea that I was not alone in the struggles with the new RN. I've struggled with the EPK in that the tabs were not working. When I respectfully reported the problem it 2 times (only because no response to the first & I could not find it.), I received a notice that my question was deemed inappropriate and removed. I had an option to appeal & I did; however, still no response. I read several comments on this thread & the language is a lot "stronger" that the language I used----I used absolutely no profanity or rude/harsh language.
I have problems especially with the new email service design. I preferred the old one!! And, I can't find the billing history either. Has that been eliminated? And, how do you cancel services? I thought about upgrading, but I think I will wait to see what happens first, especially email service.. I have a lot investigated in RN in terms of fan reach, EPK, etc. I would hate to start all over again-
The new product is much less valuable than the old one. I recently upgraded to the bundle but I am unsatisfied! losing the customized RPK and the is bad, but all the ones that I sent in the past have changed to the new weaker presentation.! GRR@$^(&
Repair the damage you have done to this service RN!

The most interesting statistic was details on who is listening, where they are from. I can understand that this might be dropped to protect confidentiality, but some general information at least would be appreciated. Are listeners from my home-town, or from another continent? Have people who signed up as fans even listened? Now there is no information.

i would like to know how many negative comments have been made to RN and how many positive comments have been made about their new system.. i'll bet it's at least 99 to 1 negative. why are the @#$%^ at RN so arrogant that they completely ignore the overwhelmingly negative feedback of their customers??!!

Positive comments all look like generic plants...arrogant RICH bastards...

i have yet to see even 1 positive comment so i wouldn't know!!

I just cancelled my Premium Press Kit subscription and if they don't put the Control Room back the way it was, I will leave Reverbnation as it has become useless! I suggest that others do the same and then when they have no money coming in maybe they will start to listen to everyone instead of ignoring us!

Unfortunately, there will always be the new bands, that never had the awesome experience of the way it used to be, the millions of hobbyists that just don't care...they will probably continue to strip down the free services until they are just like any other free band site - the charts are already so watered down and generic, mostly unknown bands, that this site pretty much means nothing to the industry - it's just pretty shiny things to attract the attention of morons

I'm considering "alternatives" also..I just invested so much in RN & right now I have so many submissions out there & noted vendors are still looking at it...not to mention the record of all my past shows, stats, etc are on RN. The new email service is what I may cancel first, but I may lose some fans in the process :(. It's so disappointing. Really loved RN & still hoping, but I don't know how long.

I just apologized to a potential client for the generic press kit I sent them.

All I see everytime is devaluating changes. My enthousiasm for reverbnation lowers bit by bit, year by year...

On my link the tech rep said that the link to send your complaints to (so it gets right to the RN tech guys) is: http://reverbnation.us2.qualtrics.com...
-
-
Make sure everyone passes that link on to everyone else. Let's tell them what we think of the New Control Panel!

they KNOW what everybody thinks of their new control panel and they just don't give a shit. their unbelievable arrogance makes them deaf and blind to the needs and wishes of their customers.

NOW I CAN'T EVEN RETRIEVE MESSAGES ANYMORE??!!! WHEN DO YOUR NEW "IMPROVEMENTS" END????!!!!!
-
I agree. I use to like going back to see what someone posted. Also, when I message someone and they message me back, their previous comment in the thread isn't in the new message. I have to go back out to the main menu and hope that I can get the original message, but I can't get what I sent them. It sucks!

I've been complaining about this for a while. Our complaints fall upon deaf ears, they have said many times - get used to it...

You all know I have been complaining about the new dashboard and loss of multiple press kits and some stats, but I LIKE the new fan page. It is easy to listen to people and sample from one to another.

Look. I'm a programmer. The programmers you obviously used misinterpreted what information was to be gathered and tracked, as well as how it might be useful to the artists. Your mail system is awful. FAULTY DESIGN. Secondly, the old control room used to contain useful statistical information that was great for keeping track of where your fans come from, who your fans are, what they are listening to or watching, as well as contact information. NOW, HOWEVER---you click on Fan Stats and it shows you pictures of your new fans. HA! It does not contain how the fans found you, what links they followed, what website they came from, how old they are, their gender, their location, contact information...NOTHING. IT SHOWS YOU NOTHING. Way to go, RN. YOU WILL NEVER CONVINCE ME THIS IS A GOOD CHANGE. YOU NEED TO FIRE YOUR DEVELOPERS AND BETA TESTERS. YOUR SITE IS NOW USELESS TO THE ARTISTS.
