"The player did not initialize correctly"

Why do I always get the message "The player did not initialize correctly" and am unable to listen to anything on the site?

    I apologize for the trouble. This sounds like it may be a browser issue. I would recommend using a different browser. Firefox and Google Chrome seems to be the most effective. Also, make sure you are running the most recent updates for your browser as well as Flash. Clear your cache and cookies, restart your browser and attempt streaming songs again. Let me know if this doesn't fix the issue.

  • Hi Zack;

    I *am* using Firefox, current version. Flash is up-to-date. Current hardware: an aging Dell 8400 box with 3.4GHz P4 hyper-thread CPU, 4gig memory, GeForce 512meg graphics card, Win7 with all the patches, up-to-date Java, etc., etc., etc. It works with every other web site out there.

    Let's cut to the chase. What processes need to be running for the player to work, and what are the names if the various sites that must have data feeds? How about cookies: which ones are critical to the player working? Are there any spy-ware sites that I must allow which could be on a black-list somewhere? In other words, give me a detailed check-list so I can go through and de-bug the issue.

    Suggestion: could you guys create some more meaningful error messages for the player? Generic error messages are leftovers from the Stone Age. Better yet, could you make the site interface with any of the media players out there?? Windows Media Player is pretty well standard, and VLC is for guys like me that don't want to tie up all the machine's resources just to hear an audio track.

    Note that I have *never* been able to get your proprietary player to work. I have *yet* to hear one single streaming song on your site. This is not a new issue for me. I would have addressed this long ago, but this is the first I have seen of the support boards.

    Thanks much for the help.

    Ben,

    I would recommend testing streaming out on a different computer. Once again, I am having no issues streaming on my fan account using Chrome, Firefox and IE10.
